What you can expect
In the course of your training you will learn how to set up, run and maintain the machines, devices and systems used in plastics processing. You will also learn how to read, use and create technical drawings and documents, and acquire the necessary knowledge about various plastics, rubber types, additives and auxiliary materials. You will soon be working with semi-finished plastics and metals and will be familiar with various methods for successful joining, bending and injection molding, as well as measurement, control and regulation. You will also be responsible for the construction and testing of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and compliance with environmental and health & safety requirements. We will also give you an insight into the secret of good operational and technical communication and optimum work processes.
What you will need
- Secondary school leaving certificate, advanced technical college certificate, general higher education qualification certificate or equivalent
- Good grades in mathematics, physics and chemistry
- Technical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Ability to think logically and a sense of initiative
- Good communication and teamworking skills
Course duration
3 years (can be shortened by 6 months in the case of good performance)
Course structure
You will take the first part of your final examination, consisting of a written paper and a practical test, in your second training year. The second part of the exam, also consisting of a written and a practical test, will take place at the end of the course. The practical test can be in the form of an in-company task or a job assignment.
