Buttonhole cannulation is a fistula-saving cannulation technique which allows access to a patient‘s fistula through the exact same puncture point with every treatment. Instead of using regular sharp fistula needles, specific blunt needles are used to gain patient access, which provides a comfortable and convenient insertion.
